Diaphragm: diaphragm accumulators have two chambers separated by a downward-facing spherical diaphragm; the gas precharged into the accumulator through a special valve takes up the entire volume of the accumulator.<\/p>\n
Bladder: the principle is similar to that of diaphragm accumulators. Oil is drawn in the bottom part reducing the volume available to gas, which is compressed and can return the accumulated volume of oil if pressure drops.<\/p>\n
Piston: in piston accumulators, gas and fluid are separated by a floating piston moving inside a cylinder; separation between gas and liquid is ensured by seals.<\/p>\n

When choosing an accumulator, there are a number of factors to take into account:<\/p>\n
The maximum pressure shown in the specifications must never be exceeded and, considering possible temperature increases, working pressure should be around 80% of the accumulator\u2019s maximum operating pressure.<\/p>\n
To guarantee optimal accumulator operation, the minimum operating pressure should be approximately 10% greater than the precharge pressure of the accumulator.<\/p>\n
The volume of oil available must be analysed for each single case.<\/p>\n
